The characteristics of the power battery itself are large output current, high voltage, relatively large capacity, and the output power can meet the power supply for driving various electric vehicles. Most of the battery modules we often see on the market are composed of lithium battery modules. PACK power batteries are filled with various types of cells, but the cell types of the same PACK need to be unified, including the size, specification, capacity, current and voltage of the cells. There are also many parts that need to be welded, and the manufacturing process varies. Among them, the commonly used component areas for laser welding include: explosion-proof valve seal welding, tab welding, connecting piece welding, safety cap welding, shell seal welding, module welding, PACK package welding, bus bar welding, and electrode pole Welding, protective plate welding, flip piece welding, tab aluminum to nickel conversion, etc., and battery materials include copper, aluminum and aluminum alloys, nickel and nickel alloys, stainless steel, etc.
1000W-2000W welding solution:
The material thickness of explosion-proof valves, pole lugs, safety helmets, shell seals, electrode posts and other components is generally small, usually between 0.2 and 2mm. Such components mainly require sealing or do not require high weld strength. The power of lasers for welding such parts is generally relatively small, and the three lasers of 1000W, 1500W, and 2000W can basically meet the requirements.
4000W-6000W welding solution:
The weld depth of module side panels and busbars is generally between 2 and 4 mm, which require high, weld strength. If a relatively low-power laser is used for welding, the welding speed will be too slow and the weld penetration may even be too deep. And intensity cannot meet the requirements. At this time, we need to choose a laser with higher power, such as 4000W and 6000W lasers:
1. Can ensure weld penetration;
2. It can ensure relatively fast welding speed and improve production efficiency;
3. With appropriate welding joints, the weld bridging ability can be effectively improved, that is, the allowable assembly gap of the joint can be increased;
4. There is a larger welding process parameter window, which can ensure product quality more stably.
Power battery module side plate welding:
In terms of module side plate welding, power battery packs commonly use aluminum alloy profiles and plates as module outer frame structural parts. The quality of the welding determines the rigidity of the overall module structure.
Welding requirements:
The weld seam is uniform, the penetration depth is more than 2mm, the weld seam strength is high, and it cannot break in the positive seam area during the strength test.
